Pray for JapanThe following is a lesson presented recently in a nursing care center and contains a response from yours truly regarding the nature of this disaster and the response a Christian ought to have. Japan has had a Christian witness on it's shores for multiple decades with very little response -- at least outwardly. Christianity has transformed a host of people in it's history. Japan can cry out to God for help in this on-going crisis. We believe God our Creator of Earth has the Power over this Earth, The Peace to calm any crisis, and a Plan for it's future.

| 1. Japan has profited after the humility of
their World War 2 defeat. It is commendable that we are allies now and not
enemies. Blessed are the Peace-makers. (Matt 5: 9 says, "theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.") It does not say every peacemaker will be in the
kingdom, as those requirements are clear. But it does infer their skills to
make peace are like God’s peaceful nature at the very least.
| 2. This is an unprecedented tragedy of 3
disasters in one, and brought the attention of the world to the island
nation. This happened with the Haiti earthquake as well. It is good for all
humanity to focus on one need like this.
| 3. The people of Japan are an extremely
proud and moral people. It was truly amazing to compare the Hurricane
Katrina aftermath to this disaster. "NO LOOTING AND UNJUST ACTIONS WERE SEEN
AT ANY TIME IN JAPAN." | |
| 4. This act of God has raised the awareness
of nuclear risk worldwide. We can learn much from this. Now I am not a
anti-nuclear activist, but this tragedy definitely does underscore the
inadequacy of our risk attitude toward this very powerful resource. Reports
of ignoring this risk in Japan come very loud and haunting for their company
officials now. It should, as well, bring increasing scrutiny to bear upon
the newest nuclear force to enter the ring: IRAN! But finally we must
realize God closes the chapter for earth, NOT MAN! This earth has yet to
experience 1000 years of prosperity and unprecedented splendor (see the 6
references to 1000 in Revelation 20 – 19 in Revelation 1-21)
| 5. It must also be observed: Japan has
Christian missionaries on their shores for decades if not over 100 years,
and there is still little mention-able results of many turning to Him for
salvation. Perhaps, yes perhaps He is waiting for them to call today. To do
this they must surely put down their Pride! |
1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world—the lust
of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father
but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but
he who does the will of God abides forever.
Ps 138:6 Though the LORD is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He
knows from afar.
Jas 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But
gives grace to the humble."
Luke 13:1-5
1 ¶ There were present at that season some who told Him about the *Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were
worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4 "Or those eighteen on whom the tower in +Siloam fell and killed them, do you
think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
Japan is not necessarily in the midst of God's focus of judgment, but of issue
in any disaster is the other all-important issue of repentance and judgment
which causes men (people with no relationship with God) to perish spiritually.
