Lanyon h47 Long Hill Street hEast Hartford, CT 06108-1436 h860-528-7205 Christmas, 1997 == Lanyon Family Homeland Greetings from Pat Chris, David & Joseph Psalm 119:92 Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction. == Our Newsletter! == Rejoice in the Lord! We’d like to take the time to rejoice in the Lord for His bountiful mercies to us. 1997 has proven to be one of the most challenging years thus far. == Dad Lanyon, 86, Promoted to Heaven Proverbs 10:7 The memory of the righteous is blessed... Suddenly on March 4, after retiring peacefully, Dad was found perspiring and was sent to the emergency room in Denver’s St. Anthony’s Hospital. About 7 am, March 5th, in his sleep he entered heaven’s gates! The cold of Colorado winter broke and warmly welcomed him. We thank the Lord for mercies in providing airfare ($2700) for the CT Lanyons to attend his coronation. He was David & Joseph’s only living grandfather. Dad lived a life sensitive to the Lord, and loving to his wife. It was often I saw tears in his eyes during church services. He truly loved to attend every one. All his life he also demonstrated an amazing forbearing love toward his beloved wife. He truly “dwelt with her according to knowledge.” We will always remember his tender ways. == 10 Years of GLORY!!! We thank the Lord for His help in keeping us in business now for these ten years. 1997 has brought some business trials though. The stress has contributed to a return of Pat’s hypoglycemia, and some sleepless nights for several months. Scriptures like Lamentations 3, and Psalm 25 have been great a encouragement to us these days, especially verse 12. God teaches us in a very good and life changing way. Pray for us to have greater business wisdom. We know the Lord is truly sovereign in all His purposes, and we desire to fear and wait upon Him. == Family Notes== >DAVID, Age 8½ We rejoice to see David, upon rising, reading his Bible story books. We are encouraging him, now that he can read, to keep a journal. He loves drawing pictures of military objects. God surely gave us a “mighty man of valor” with the spirit of a warrior like King David! He also loves to play games such as Monopoly. == >JOSEPH, Age 4¾ We rejoice in Joseph, who is our “sweet singer.” He sings heartily songs he has learned from bedtime tapes and or Sunday school. He is just now beginning to take more interest in David’s school work. He has printed for Dad all the letters of the alphabet and is learning also the numerals 1-10. He loves to be read to, especially by Dad. Anytime he can go with Dad, he jumps at the opportunity. Joseph has a ==page 2 Lanyon Family Homeland== [Christmas, 1997] == very strong “sweet tooth.” We are praying and working to transfer that interest to spiritual sweets! == MOM Chris teaches grades one and two in Sunday School.[2nd year doing this] She also does the church monthly calendar. It seems like she always has a bag of “goodies” to give to someone. God continues to give her things to share. She also takes part in Ladies’ Visitation. == DAD Pat leads the church singing with zeal. He is the clerk, updating the addresses each 3 months. He is a deacon, and is also in charge of the Church Building Cleaners. There are 11 groups of folks that clean, by turn throughout the year. We both continue to reach out monthly at the rest home. We have been doing this since our marriage. This year Riverside Health Care Center has completely remodeled and built a large addition. =Relatives Watchcare= GRANDMA Mary has had much head pain for months. And for years she has had a harsh cough. Her daughter, Mary Ann, took her to a chiropractor who has relieved the pain, improved the cough, and recommended supplemental vitamins. She has enjoyed a visit to CT this year and we have visited her in September. Her grandchildren are a great joy to her. GRANDMA Jane, now 86 on November 28, has done surprisingly well following the sorrow of Dad’s home going. This is largely due to the personal support and visits of my brother Gary. We have a priceless debt owed for the quality of life both he and my other brother Bill and wife, Jean, have provided for Mom and for Dad since 1992. She is well cared for, and can be called on the phone if you speak loud. The Lord’s Blessing Be Upon You We are pleased to know you care about us. Some still pray daily for us. We ask God for those who do to receive a special blessing for such a sacrifice. Thank you for lifting our family up to the Throne of Grace!
