2. The Father’s truth is without iniquity. Deuteronomy 32.4 He is the
Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth
and without iniquity, just and right is he.
3. The Father’s truth is related to mercy. Psalm 25.10 All the paths
of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his
testimonies. Psalm 57.3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the
reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his
mercy and his truth. [They come or function together.] Psalm 85.10 Mercy
and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each
other. Ps 89.14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy
and truth shall go before thy face. Psalm 115.1 Not unto us, O
LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy
truth's sake.
4. Truth controls and guides God’s works, precepts, and judgments. Psalm
111.6-8 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he
may give them the heritage of the heathen. 7 The works of his hands are
verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for
ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. Ps 119.142 Thy
righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Ps 96.13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to
judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the
people with his truth.
5. God speaks and acts in truth. 1 Sam 15.29 And also the Strength of
Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should
repent. Hebrews 6.17-18 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew
unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an
oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible
for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for
refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: James 1.18 Of his own
will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of
firstfruits of his creatures.
6. Jesus is the truth incarnate. John 1.14 And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
7. Jesus spoke only the truth. John 8.40_44 But now ye seek to kill me, a
man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not
Abraham. 41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We
be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. 42 Jesus said
unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth
and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do
ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye
are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because
there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it.
8. The Spirit is truth. John 14.16_17 And I will pray the Father, and he
shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it
seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you.
9. God’s Word is truth. John 17.8, 17 For I have given unto them
the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have
known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst
send me. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Psalm 119.142 [above]; vv. 151, 160 Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy
commandments are truth. 160 Thy word is true from the beginning:
and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
10. The Apostles and the inspired writings of the entire NT are all true.
John 19:35 nkjv And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is
true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may
believe. John 21.24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these
things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
2 Tim 3.16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:
